In the increasingly competitive landscape of sustainable boating, Polish shipyard Sialia Yachts stands out for equipping its range, from 13 to 30 meters, with the electric propulsion system that competes to be the most advanced and complete on the market.
Electric propulsion according to Sialia
Sialia Yachts was founded by Stanislav Szadkowski, who has more than two decades of experience in electric mobility, and is joined by its sister company Ampros, which specializes in the development of drive systems and management software that it supplies to recreational and workboat builders worldwide. Their secret? Unlike many competitors who adapt technologies born for the automotive sector, they have designed a solution tailored for the marine environment based on four basic pillars.
Proprietary management system
At the heart of Sialia’s innovation is the integrated management system developed in-house by Ampros. This electronic “brain” constantly monitors the operation of the entire system, ensuring safety, efficiency and longevity. With the ability to prevent anomalies before they become problems, the company offers a standard 5-year warranty-extendable up to 10-even on batteries.
High-performance batteries
The second pillar concerns the batteries, which are designed to their own specifications and optimized to make the most of their capacity. Unlike conventional solutions, which use only 80 percent of the charge, Sialia’s batteries can safely access even the normally unused 10 percent of minimum and maximum charge. They are, of course, water-resistant and designed to discharge automatically in case of seepage, ensuring maximum safety. Each pack is placed in modular banks, allowing continuity of use even in case of partial failure. The goodness of this solution has already been demonstrated by the Sialia 57 Deep Silence (17 m), which has lost only 2 percent of total battery capacity in three years of extensive operation since its launch in 2023.
Simplicity and predictive maintenance
Sialia’s electric propulsion apparatus, which can reach powers of up to 400kW, requires minimal maintenance. An intuitive graphical interface allows all major functions to be managed, from remaining range, to activating the diesel range extender, to controlling the cooling systems. The user experience is comparable to that of an electric car: you press a button and off you go. In addition, sensors allow you to detect component wear and tear and predict problems to fix them before they occur.
Upgradeable system and guaranteed future
Finally, the system is fully upgradeable, both via hardware and software. Should more high-performance batteries arrive in the future, it will be possible to replace them independently of the rest of the system. In addition, thanks to over-the-air updates, any software updates can be implemented remotely, keeping the yacht up-to-date.
