Italian company CMC Marine, which manufactures boat stabilization systems, has announced a new partnership with Garmin, a well-known brand in the world of electronic marine instrumentation. This partnership-after those with Furuno and Raymarine-is another step in CMC Marine’s journey to offer increasingly integrated solutions to boat owners, and make its systems even easier to control.
How Garmin and CMC Marine systems “talk to each other”
At the heart of the system is the Display, Assistance, Logging Interface ( DALI ), which now communicates with Garmin’s proprietary software and hardware found on its multifunctionals. CMC Marine’s stabilization and control systems (such as Stabilis Electra and Waveless STAB stabilizer fins) thus become manageable, even for Garmin users, directly from their displays, with all the attached functions including:
- Real-time monitoring of stabilizing fin movements and performance.
- Choosing operating modes and setting parameters.
- Access to detailed information and alarm alerts.
For vessels also equipped with CMC Marine’s Directa electric steering system, the integration also offers simplified management of rudder positions and operating modes.
Pietro Cappiello, vice president of CMC Marine, emphasized the importance of the new collaboration, “CMC Marine’s mission is to improve the experience and safety on board yachts and superyachts, including by making its products easier to use and increasingly integrated with onboard systems. The collaboration with Garmin to integrate our systems with Garmin MFDs goes in the direction of providing our customers, crews and owners with a better boating experience in an effort to continuously innovate in the service of boating.”
