whirlpool boat

From the U.S. comes a new concept that combines an electric-powered day boat and a Jacuzzi-type tub to get a whirlpool while sailing. It’s called Spacruzzi, and the charter world is loving it.

Among the pleasures of a boat outing is taking a nice swim. But the Spacruzzi, an innovative and, to say the least, eccentric vessel devised in the United States, goes further because it even allows you to indulge in a whirlpool while sailing. Yes, it is a sort of cross between an electrically propelled day boat and a Jacuzzi-type tub that was the brainchild of entrepreneur Alex Kenwetz.

Built in Polson, Montana, U.S.A., this exhilarating mini-yacht is 4.75 meters long and 2.49 meters wide, with a draft of only 83 centimeters that allows it to sail even in fairly shallow waters. And the center of the deck houses a large hot tub that holds up to 1,500 liters of water heated to 40 degrees Celsius for the well-being of its guests. It can take up to six people on board.

A new, even more luxurious version

When it was launched in 2024, the Spacruzzi had aroused much curiosity from the public and insiders. Her target audience is indeed the charter and day-boat world, but she can also be embarked as a special and alternative boat on luxury yachts.

In 2025, the American company offers a new version with better materials and improved design. It is handcrafted from fiberglass and features high-end finishes as well as custom hull colors and decking. You can also choose optional extras such as shade towers, floating beverage holders or underwater lights. It also comes with a small wood stove to keep guests warm even when night falls.

Propulsion is full electric

Propulsion is by a Torqeedo electric motor, for a speed of about 10 km/h. An aft compartment can hold up to four battery packs, which power the motor, tank heater, and water treatment, for up to 16 hours. The heater can also have the support of a propane system. The price? Certainly not for everyone. It starts at 47,600 euros, but can increase depending on the additional equipment required.
