Sundancer 370 is the new 11.48-meter weekender from the U.S. shipyard Sea Ray, part of the Brunswick Group. It is a boat designed to have fun on day trips, with plenty of space – fore and aft – to have some relaxation and enjoy a day at sea. Plus there is room on board for four people to spend the night on the boat comfortably, no small plus for a boat of this size.
The weekender for fun
Among the segments most in demand by the market-and therefore most manned by yards-is definitely the weekender segment. They are boats that are liked because they are compact, easy to conduct but no less fun. What’s more, they allow the classic daily outing to be extended for a night or two by having a bed or even a cabin.
Usually aboard these boats there is no shortage of powerful sound systems and space for many people to cook and dine, in true American style. The Sundancer 370 is no exception in this regard, allowing guests to make the most of all the space on deck and below deck.
Sundancer 370. The spaces on deck
We start at the deck level, with a generous swim platform equipped with an electronic water-descent platform to cover the two 430-horsepower Mercury MerCruisers that welcomes us aboard. Going up the step that separates the beach area from the deck we find two folding chairs, which can be oriented fore or aft, and a central walkway that leads us to the aft cockpit.
Here we find awrap-around seat that surrounds virtually the entire available footprint, partially covered by a black Hard Top to which an electrically actuated SureShade awning can be attached-to extend coverage. The area is soon transformed into a “dining configuration” by mounting the removable tables and taking advantage of the L-shaped cabinet containing grill, refrigerator, and wet bar. Further forward we find the two single seats for pilot (right) and co-pilot (left) with all Simrad brand electronics and instrumentation (controlled by a dual 16-inch NSO evo3 display) available, including the Fusion Apollo RA770 audio system.
From the walkway located in front of the co-pilot’s seat, theforward area is accessed. Here the shipyard cleverly chose to place different types of seating, with those facing the sea being able to become a sundeck for three people. There is no shortage of protected cup holders and a place to place a coffee table, and a manual awning can be optionally provided to shade the area.
Interiors
Descending below deck we find a single room on two levels, separated by the very ladder that roughly divides the interior in half. In the rear – amidships – is a comfortable berth for two people, as well as lockers and various storage spaces. In the elevated forward room, however, are the galley with refrigerator sink and microwave oven, the bathroom with separate shower, and the forward dinette-lounge, which converts easily into a double bed. Four people can spend a long weekend on board in absolute comfort, thanks in part to the capacious fuel tanks of 946 liters for fuel and 174 liters for water.
