The Manhattan range expands with the latest addition: the Manhattan 55. Three feet more than its smaller brother, the 52, but many differences that fully reflect Sunseeker’s evolution. What most distinguishes the new Manhattan 55 and differentiates it from the incredibly successful Manhattan 52 model is definitely the new interior style: lighting, electronics, and design care are the focal points the team worked on to make an already quality facility even more appealing.
Sunseeker Manhattan 55
We climb aboard to see what this 17-meter flybridge looks like, an ideal vessel for those who want to take a break from the world and cruise the Mediterranean at cruising speed.
“At the level of external lines,” he explains. William Burns, Director Sunseeker Italy and Brokerage Director Sunseeker London Group – the Manhattan 55 starts from the elegant and well-established structure of its predecessor, incorporating other new elements such as larger glazing and emphasized by stainless steel and carbon fiber details that play with sea reflections.”
Sunseeker Manhattan 55 – Exterior and Deck
Starting from the stern, we immediately find the large hydraulic swim platform, now indispensable, to which a Beach Club has been added, creating an ideal area for enjoying moments with family and friends. Whether it’s an aperitif just a step away from the water with built-in BBQ, a full-length shower after a sunset swim, or a relaxing moment on the transom’s flip-up seat: in short, if you want to be in touch with the water, this is the area of the boat for you.
“Definitely a point of innovation,” William Burns continued. Is the new fenestration in the kitchen/cockpit. The glass on this one is motorized and can be lowered with the push of a button. This causes a large open space to be created between exterior and interior when opening the cockpit door.”
The salon is designed as an open space with seating that makes it suitable for convivial moments with the kitchen located on the main deck. Going forward, we find another convivial area, livable either as a second dining area with a central table or as a bow sundeck by lowering the table.
“The exteriors see an expansion of space,” William Burns continues. also on the flybridge with a comfortable sundeck in the bow and attached mobile bar with seating area positioned aft. This offers the possibility of having a comfortable dining table and integrated hard top suitable for shady outdoor dining.”
Also on the fly is the second wheelhouse, in addition to the one inside the deck, with which it is possible to steer the boat with a 360-degree view of the sea around the boat.
Sunseeker Manhattan 55 – Below Deck
Going below decks, it is immediately evident that the interior design was among the main focuses of the project. Starting with the materials; a renewed selection of coatings gives a sleek, contemporary look. A perfect use of wood with a mix of different finishes such as Silver Oak, Satin Wenge, Walnut, Smoked Eucalyptus.
The layout is designed to have three cabins available with options for owners to customize the master stateroom with a chaise longue, or a private breakfast table, or even additional storage furniture. And then a VIP and a double to starboard, as well as the crew cabin aft. Numbers in hand, there are thus six beds available on board, to which the crew cabin can be added.
Another key point is the light: natural light enters through the exterior windows, while integrated light has been refined in all rooms and placed in ceiling panels or hidden in the furniture itself, with a choice of two different schemes that can be activated at the touch of a button. Sunseeker’s experience with large vessels, including several superyachts, meant that some of these elements cascaded down to this range of yachts as well.
“The elements that draw from the larger yacht ranges,” Burns concludes, “are definitely the management of interior and exterior spaces that give the feeling of being on a larger yacht. Another element is definitely the greater possibility of customization and the innovative selection of materials with which to create unique combinations according to one’s taste. For example, the Beach Club, which finds its greatest expression on larger yachts, is repurposed here, still creating a distinctive feature that is now highly sought after by our clientele.”
Sunseeker Manhattan 55 – Sailing
The Sunseeker Manhattan 55 is designed as a yacht with which you can also give yourself to longer cruises. Volvo Penta engines, with a maximum installable horsepower of 1,600, allow the boat to propel up to 32 knots of top speed.
At a cruising speed of 21 knots, depending on the load on board, the range should be around 230 miles, thanks to a 2,200-liter fuel tank.
