Inside the outboard

This time our test will be a little more “scientific” and will take you through what are usually elements that are taken for granted during testing. In short, we will get to know a little bit of the technical details of a latest generation outboard engine from Suzuki Italia Marine up close. In detail we will look at these key points below:

  • What are the advantages of a 55° V6 architecture for an outboard engine
  • What are the pluses of Lean Burn technology : how it works
  • Why having the offset drive axle is an advantage
  • What is the purpose of the Suzuki Selective Rotation
  • What is the actual fuel consumption of this vessel-engine combination
  • Finally, the base price

The pairing for this test is with a Capoforte FX270 . We are talking about a pure 8-meter open of about 2,300 kg. A single 300-horsepower engine for such a vehicle may be considered far too little. Yet this DF300AP from Suzuki handled itself very well.
