Time to test at Technohull, the Greek shipyard specializing in the production of high performance luxury cruise reels. After its 78 knots big brother, the new 38 Grand Sport seems to be ready to sail: in pre-production tests it reached 103 knots of speed, not bad for a rib of 11.09 meters!
The supersonic cruising rib
The arrival of the Technohull 38 Grand Sport is scheduled for the end of the summer, but after these preliminary tests has already become the fastest boat ever in the history of the shipyard. However, this rib is not a pure racer. The 38 Grand Sport is able to achieve this kind of performance in stability and comfort, thanks to the innovative design of the Dynastream hull.
There is plenty of choice for the owner in the engine:
- A double motorisation Mercury Verado from 300, 350, 400 or 450 horses
- A triple 450 horsepower engine in the super sport version
The combination of a relatively narrow beam of 3.1 m and a high performance bow allows this boat to reach in perfect safety speeds that, a few years ago, would have been unthinkable for a recreational boat.
For relaxation, when you are not sailing
As we said, it’s not just a fast boat, but also a comfortable one: the layout includes a pair of twin sundecks at the stern and a larger one at the bow. The aerodynamic, low-profile control console gives this boat a sporty look. The shipyard’s patented cushioning seats allow you to stay comfortable at all speeds. In addition to the high-quality solid teak deck, there’s also an electric toilet, an outdoor shower and the possibility of a forward cabin.
You can then choose between the open console or the hardtop for better weather resistance. Alternatively, you can always use the carbon awning. The courtesy light is LED and a ladder to get into the water that opens and adjusts at the touch of a button.
What is the Dynastream hull
Technohull patented the Dynastream hull, which took five years to develop, and was the subject of an in-house team of naval architects. Thanks to sophisticated software and algorithms, the hydrodynamic profile has been optimised with a deep V-angle and a marked starry surface. The result is a boat that is safe and soft to handle, but able to give a great deal of adrenalin to the owner, novice or expert alike.
This deep V hull allows you to achieve higher speeds while maintaining stability and low fuel consumption. A rigorous process of CFD simulation, scale and tank tests of real size, in addition to the experience of the Davidson Laboratory study in New Jersey has led to have a boat that glides at low speeds and reaches its maximum speed more easily.
The shape gives the 38 Grand Sport offshore capability, diverting splashing even in rough sea waves and harsh conditions. Ease of use and safety at any speed!
