The year 2026 is one of novelty and a return to the past. Or rather, if last year saw us celebrating thirty-five years of the magazine’s history, this year is instead dedicated to celebrating the History of Boating, and thus all those iconic boats that made it. We have already mentioned this to you ( HERE), but let us now go into more detail. And, if you have a boat more than 15 years old, pay close attention., this article is for you.

Is your boat more than 15 or 25 years old? Celebrate history with all enthusiasts

Let’s start with the basics: what better way to celebrate the history of motor boating than by celebrating the boats themselves? It is with this in mind that we will open our celebrations in 2026 on two strands. On the one hand, with our new section Classic Boat Archive, where article after article we tell you about each historic model we have analyzed and tested. On the other side (and this will interest so many of you) celebrating your own historic boats! Boats that we invite you to tell us about by sharing their history, pictures and the care behind their maintenance (we explain how below). But here is how to define a historic boat and how to go about sharing it with us.

Celebrating a Classic Boat

Let’s start with a premise: to celebrate and share your boat with all enthusiasts, first and foremost, it is clear to have certain parameters in mind. Certainly, there is no limit of fame or prestige; therefore, you will not need to have a Riva to be able to celebrate your hull with us. Ceto is also, however, that some dots on the i’s need to be dotted. That’s why some very trivial, but nonetheless essential, parameters:

A. the boat must be historic, thus falling within the Classic Boat hat. This consists of two distinct categories, defined, simply, by a seniority parameter:

    1. the first category, referred to as Youngtimer, consists of hulls not yet Classic but already emblematic of a historical period: it embraces all those boats whose age is between 15 and 25 years old.
    2. The second, the most well-known one, commonly referred to as the Classic Boat, includes, on the other hand, the ‘older’ but not yet vintage boats, i.e., all those hulls built after World War II (1950) and which are now more than 25 years old.

B. the other very trivial parameter is as follows: the boat must not be distorted from the spirit of the original design. What does it mean? Modifications are allowed, as are updates, but the design-on the lines and volume front-must not have been disrupted.

Sand a boat fits these parameters, no problem, it is a Classic Boat and you can celebrate it and share it with all enthusiasts. We explain how to proceed HERE.

How to proceed:

To celebrate single boats, your boats, we have created for you an archive Classic Boats, a page where you can enter your boat and its history, while at the same time allowing you to browse through many others, like a great encyclopedia of the history of motor boating. Here’s how it works:

From the Motor Boats website, access the drop-down menu that appears by hovering your mouse over “Magazine” (image below) and click on “Your Classic Boats” (or click HERE directly). You will be taken to the main page of the archive.
From here, simply click on “Submit Your Boat” and you will be ready to enter all the data. If the boat is a production boat, select accordingly, otherwise you can opt for the One off box for boats made as a single or limited edition. Fill in the fields, upload your photos, and you’re done. The Editorial Board will reserve the right to publish the boats in a very short time.
