Beautiful to look at, sporty and stylish at a price that can’t help but tickle. The Saxdor 320 GTO is a 10-meter, outboard-powered powerboat that can touch and exceed 50 knots depending on configuration. It is open, with electric retractable bulwarks (an important luxury on this size) and demonstrates a major design effort on deck, where livability is maximized, not only aft, but also forward.

We come to the less elegant but certainly central issue: price. The Saxdor 320 GTO, with a 300-horsepower Mercury Verado V8 outboard standard version starts at €96,360 (excluding VAT). Of course, then by adding all the various optional extras the price goes up, but even staying under 150,000 euros you can have a versatile and fun little gem that also looks good. Let’s go in order and see what it looks like.

Saxdor 320 GTO

The “daddy” of the Saxdor brand and also of this model is the volcanic Sakari Mattila, who is no stranger to successful projects. In the past, he was among the founders of brands that proved to be hotbeds of bestsellers such as Axopar, Aquador, XO Boats and Paragon. The second model (

after the Saxdor 200

) born from the hand of Sakari Mattila drew immediate attention to itself, positioning itself as one of the most interesting sports cars on the market in 2021.

On the Saxdor GTO, which was developed in collaboration with J&J Design, the main trends in contemporary boating are immediately apparent: folding broadside, outboard motors, vertical bow and sleek lines.

As anticipated this model has side terraces that descend electronically. This significantly increases the surface area of the cockpit and thus its habitability. While they are very popular in the market, it is peculiar to see electric ones, usually the preserve of high-end market units, on a vehicle of this type.

In any case, the cockpit accommodates up to 6 guests at the seats around the table. Folding down the seat back towards the stern creates considerable sunbathing space. Under the t-top, already in the basic configuration it is possible to have a wet bar to be fitted out later with optional extras, with the dashboard with three seats in the bow. The wheelhouse is designed to leave maximum visibility for those at the helm. At the same time, the layout allows maximum enjoyment of riding performance, enhanced by the performance fairing. In the bow, however, there is a second sundeck. The walkways are quite wide, despite the tapered shape of the hull, and allow easy movement along the entire deck without any particular difficulty.

Saxdor 320 GTO – Interior

Saxdor 320 GTO is the open version. A closed version, the Saxdor 320 GTC, is also available. Already on this model you can enjoy an interior space, below deck. This makes this boat capable of short couple cruises thanks to a double cabin, located in the bow. Clever window placement work allows this area to be illuminated, which from the outside seems almost not to be there. A bathroom with toilet is also located in a separate room.

Saxdor 320 GTO – Performance

We have so far talked about performance somewhat generically. Let’s try to give some more details. The maximum installable power is given by two Mercury Marine outboards of 600 horsepower each. In particular, they are the Mercury V8 AMS 300s.

In this configuration the estimated maximum speed, given also the 2.6 tons of weight, is over 50 knots with an optimum cruise between 24/25 knots. Even the single-engine version, that is, the standard one, does not disappoint with a top speed around 38 knots. This performance is possible because of the double-step, hull lines designed to combine comfort and maneuverability with significant top speeds.
