In the boating world, there are various international awards that are given each year to more or less meritorious projects and boats. In this sense, Italy is, without a doubt, a country that enjoys a privileged vantage point in the market, and at the Genoa Boat Show, for 3 years now, an award has been given, the Design Innovation Award, which awards the best projects in terms of technology and design, in 10 different categories.

In this review we focus on the best powerboats and accessories awarded by Confindustria Nautica and I Saloni Nautici .

An independent jury of professors, journalists and designers, and chaired by Maria Porro, president of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, screened more than 80 entries received for the various categories of the award. See the winners:

Lilybaeum Levanzo 25 – Sailing / motor boat up to 10 m

The Sicilian enfant prodigies of Lilybaeum Yacht, after the yachtsmen, also won over the juries and took the prize of best boat up to 10 meters. A very crowded segment (which also includes sailing) in which the
Levanzo 25
has stood out for its lines, space and the quality of its finish. We would add, who have tried the boat, that the hull designed by Alessandro Chessa also makes this boat very fun and dry when sailing.

FRAUSCHER 1212 GHOST AIR – Motor boat up to 14 m

By putting yourself at the helm of the Frauscher 1212 Ghost Air you only take one risk: not wanting to detach and keep sailing launched on the water. Harry Miesbauer ‘s hull does not disappoint and allows us to tack at high speeds while staying dry and in control. On deck, the quality of the Austrian shipyard’s boats is now well known, but it is worth reiterating. The design and construction choices, just look at the stern or the shape of the center console, are of such sophistication and complexity that only a few other brands can afford these quality standards. This is combined with first-rate deck level livability.

Genoa Boat Show 2023. Azimut Magellan 60 – Motor boat over 14 m

For long sailing and low fuel consumption, the classic wins: shaft line and efficient hull. Azimut’s compact explorer combines these features with XL interior volumes that also do not impinge on the line in an annoying way. The result is a long-range cruising vessel with low fuel consumption, excellent livability and a host of on-board goodies that also tickle the owner who demands sophistication and style, but never at the expense of practicality of use. In our test of the boat we sailed at 10 to 11 knots with consumption of about 70 liters per hour total by the two 730-horsepower MANs. We had almost a full tank of fuel and fresh water on board and there were about 10 of us.

SX100 Sanlorenzo – Superyachts over 24 meters

Sanlorenzo conquers with its new cross-over superyacht thanks to a novel layout that enhances both the interior and exterior. A 30-meter exactly halfway between the 88 and the 112, of which it shares many features with exteriors designed by Zuccon International Project and interiors by Piero Lissoni.

Prestige M8 – Multihulls

Prestige’s new “mega” catamaran wins in the multihull segment. The trend of having “small” catamarans with outboard propulsion goes hand in hand with a still very important growth in the cruising cat market. Conceived around the winning philosophy of the previous Prestige M48, this new flagship (19.8 m) is designed for cruising under the banner of relaxation andart de vivre . In short, a hull (or rather, two) on which comfortable spaces are combined with good seamanship and catamaran comfort .

Genoa Boat Show 2023. Honda BF350 outboard – Marine accessories and equipment

Quiet and fuel-efficient at cruising speed, racing spirit when the V-TEC kicks in and you’re cruising at the highs. The two faces of this Honda outboard immediately make it very competitive among high-end engines, although it pays a few years behind its competitors. In short, an engine to keep an eye on, and one that achieves this milestone in a year when other motor brands have certainly not been watching.
