As it does every year, Boat International magazine has determined which are the best powerboats that saw the water in 2020. The award for “Motor Yacht of the Year,” i.e., best motor boat of the year, went to the 77-meter superyacht Pi. This Feadship-built project was handled in exterior design by Jarkko Jämsén, while the interior design was handled by Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design.

The race for victory this year was really tough. So many top-level boats that raised the level of competition to the highest. Usually winning the award are the larger full-custom yachts that win because of the large budgets that are made available to the designers and the shipyard. It is on these projects that we usually arrive at the highest level of technology and innovation. The year 2020, however, was a tough one with more than one boat holding all the cards to win the award. In the end, the field was narrowed down to three boats, and the winner in the end was Motor Yacht Pi
Why he won the Motor Yacht Pi
Built by Feadship’s Royal Van Lent shipyard, this 77-meter vessel managed to convince the judges. The simple, modern and elegant exterior line designed by Jarkko Jämsén creates a harmonious balance between the windows and the actual structure of the boat. A very clean and smooth interplay of lines that give the Pi motor yacht a true globetrotting look. The structure of the vessel consists of a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure for a displacement of 1592 tons. Powered by 2682-horsepower MTU diesel engines, it reaches a maximum speed of 18 knots, while cruising speed is around 18 knots.
Up to 12 guests can be accommodated on board in 6 cabins. The interior is “Zen” style reflecting the principle of elegance and refinement already seen for the boat’s exterior lines. A’excellence of 77.25 meters, which allowed the Pi motor yacht to win the “motor yacht of the year” award.
