We went trawler hunting at Milan Yachting Week – The digital boat show where you find dozens of boats of all sizes moored in the virtual harbor. Why did we choose trawlers? Because these boats are having renewed unexpected success in the world. The merit of this type of boat, born for fishing and long sailing on the high seas, is that they are a perfect example of environmentally friendly as well as very comfortable boats.
Environmentally friendly because they consume little fuel and can sail at low speeds due to the displacement hull. Comfortable because they are the ones that come closest as exterior and interior arrangements to real seaside houses. Last, the design has been updated making them also pleasing in appearance. In short, we could approximate them as a concept to automotive SUVs. Here are the eight trawlers we scouted at Milan Yachting Week – The digital boat show. There are all sizes and for all budgets. Essential or luxurious. Your choice.
Less than 10 meters: Beneteau Swift Trawler 30
The “baby” of Beneteau’s Swift Trawler range, it is 9.90 meters long and 3.53 meters wide, and is equipped with a 150-hp engine with a range increased to 160 miles at cruising speeds of 14 to 15 knots. Not even 10 meters but true yacht-like spaces characterize Beneteau Swift Trawler 30 in which Beneteau engineers have adopted a number of tricks to exploit every useful space, while also making a boat that is extremely pleasing to the eye. A treat to tempt you: unsuspected fly (upper deck) space with its sitting area and driver’s station. A true terrace overlooking the sea.

This little more than ten-meter trawler is perfect for those who want a boat that is out of the chorus, different from all the others. It was born for the seas of northern Europe, but has unique characteristics of comfort and safety of navigation. Also, it has lots and lots of space. For example, the Nord Star 31+ Patrol also has a large upper cabin with three doors, making every passage on the deck safe and risk-free at all times. There are three cabins: the forward cabin has a comfortable bed for two people, while the middle cabin offers space to sleep up to three people. A large toilet and luxurious lounge then give extra comfort that is also perfect during excursions and cruises, while the small but well-stocked kitchen also has everything you need.
Beneteau’s Swift Trawler 35 (11.29 meters x 4.03) in just 11 meters enhances the trawler concept and exalts it. The Swift Trawler 35 offers spacious, functional and designer fittings. The glass-enclosed driver’s station provides a 360-degree view and diffuses pleasant natural light. Owner’s cabin accessible through a convenient door, private bathroom and second cabin with twin beds. Outside, the Swift Trawler 35’s flybridge offers comfortable living space on board with sea views.

The newest 13-meter in Beneteau’s Swift Trawler range, the Swift Trawler 41 is 13.43 meters long and 4.25 meters wide, features two 270- or 300-horsepower engines and is offered in two versions: Sedan and Fly (upper deck). Its design has the made-in-Italy touch of the famous designer Andreani. And it shows. Andreani was able to bring a touch of great elegance to the Beneteau Swift Trawler 41, combined with huge spaces for a 13-meter. Suffice it to say that there are three cabins in the sleeping area for a total of seven beds, all with sea views.

Nearly 14 meters: Linssen 450 AC
In northern Europe, boats use them much more than in the Mediterranean as beach houses. One of the best examples of a Nordic trwaler is the Linssen 450 AC Variotop (m. 13.75 x 4.65), a true Nordic-style motoryacht in which the cockpit is transformed, thanks to a simple transparent closure, into a veranda for all-weather use. In fact, the Variotop line is distinguished by an elevated driving position that can be protected by the soft top if needed or projected outdoors in good weather. But don’t think that Linssen 450 AC Variotop is not also a boat for sailing, thanks to its ideal size, with the new Linssen 450 AC Variotop it is possible to make all kinds of sea voyages comfortably and without stress.
The Beneteau Swift Trawler 47 (m. 14.74 x 4.50) is a perfect example of a boat=second home. Its solid appearance inspires an immediate feeling of security. The impression is confirmed on board with a clear and extremely practical deck plan. Wide walkways and numerous handrails ensure great peace of mind for passengers. The large fly can accommodate up to four people facing the sea, in the front rows when sailing. Modular as desired, the cockpit invites you to take advantage of the pleasure of experiencing the sea. The Swift Trawler 47 has three cabins and a convertible sofa, and can offer up to 8 extremely comfortable bunks. It is equipped with two 425-hp engines with tanks of 1920 liters of fuel and 680 liters of water.
Manufactured strictly in an impeccably handcrafted manner with extensive customization options, the new Pardo Endurance 60 (m. 18.00 x 5.10)can be compared to top-of-the-line SUV cars such as Mercedes and Porsches. Lots and lots of space in 60 feet of length, a true seaside villa. To realize this, we recommend that you watch the Pardo Endurance 60 video now of why this boat has “that certain something.” The Pardo Endurance 60, the first model in a new range that already has its concept in the name Endurance and that reintroduces the “trawler” philosophy in a new light. The name Endurance was chosen because this new boat has long sailing in its DNA, it recalls endurance over time, performance related to sailing well safely for many miles and with low fuel consumption.
You’d better click right now on the brand new Grand Trawler 62 world premiere at our digital boat show and enjoy the present future of boating. What have those geniuses at Beneteau, the world’s largest French shipyard, done? They relied on two Italians, Massimo Gino of Nauta Yachts and Amedeo Migali of MICAD, asking them to make something they had never seen before, with one goal: to realize A boat of just over 18 meters that was beautiful and as big as a seaside villa and as safe and efficient as a long-distance boat. And to make it beautiful, too. The boat is 18.95 long and an impressive 5.45 meters wide. Due to this unusual width, space automatically increases compared to a boat of the same size. But space increases even more because the “foreground,” or Flybridge, is no longer just a place to steer the boat with a small sofa/sundeck. It is a huge covered terrace, an outdoor but sheltered lounge. And when it comes to range and fuel consumption, the Beneteau Grand Trawler 62 has 900 miles of range and reduces fuel consumption because it does not make speed its strong point. In fact, its ingenious hull allows it to sail even at low speeds (12/15 knots) at maximum hydrodynamic efficiency.
