Continuing with its trend of updates and new solutions, Rio Yachts announces a new line to go alongside the recent
Daytona
, now proposing a segment that looks at cruising and glamour, combining comfort, style and performance together: this is the Le Mans line, Rio’s new cruising range. Introducing the segment, with the end of 2023, will come the first hull, unwalkaroundcenter console of 14.9 meters: the
Rio Le Mans 50
.
Rio Le Mans 50 (14.90 m)
The progenitor of the new line, which will be joined in early 2024 by the Le Mans 45, the Le Mans 50 will be the first model we will see born from Rio’s new reinterpretation of the Daytona range, now strong with a more cruising stamp and a brand new wraparound hard-top to protect the entire cockpit. The main goal, however, is one, to favor long sailing as much as possible, offering improved comfort and still commendable performance (44 kn).
Rio Le Mans 50 – Exterior
While retaining the distinctive elements of the Daytona line, the new Le Mans 50 also differs from its sisters in the other range in terms of design, as well as in terms of intended use. A feature that towers above all, in this regard, is the new domed hard top, a crystal and fiberglass windshield that projects aft, protecting the entire cockpit and balancing the streamlined, symmetrical lines of the design signed by Marino Alfani to the fullest.
The bow then is sleek and best reflects the clean design of the hull, which, starting from the forward spaces, offers a large lounge consisting of double facing sofas and sun deck recessed into the deckhouse. At the opposite end, on the other hand, and thus aft, the cockpit welcomes with a second large sundeck facing the swim platform, water access also for the tender, located in the garage hidden under the same sundeck. The bulwarks are themselves foldable, providing additional surface area to the aft space.
In the cockpit, under the top, a convivial space then comes to life consisting of a central sofa overlooking a spacious open-air galley. In the bow of this one there is then space for the command bridge, the three seats intended for it, and access to the rooms below deck.
Interior
Shifting the focus to interior spaces, the Le Mans 50 offers a classic 2-cabin double layout, with an entrance facing a furnished vestibule. Aft is the first double cabin, complete with private bathroom with separate shower. In the bow, however, is positioned the second double, full-beam. This would not appear to have private access to the toilet rooms, accessible, instead, from the vestibule just outside the same.
Rio Le Mans 50 – Engine and performance
Although no official data are yet available with respect to actual performance, Rio’s new 50-footer predicts, as of now, cruising speeds of about 35 knots, with peak speeds in excess of 40 knots. Standard reference motorization will be three Yanmar 8LVs of 370 horsepower each, served by a fuel tank of about 1,600 liters, for a cruising range of 300 nautical miles. As an alternative to Yanmar motorization, outboard propulsion is also planned, provided by a trio of Mercury Verado engines of 450 horsepower each.
