Expanding the panorama of all-season, or boats designed to be usable year-round, comes the new addition of
Sargo
, introduced to the public during the last boat show in Germany: it is the Sargo 45 Explorer, a 14.6-meter designed, precisely, to be used 12 months out of 12. A boat, as we shall see, complete both on deck and in the interior, moving from open-air lounge areas to the comfortable enclosed spaces of the pilot-house, or the 2 or 3 cabins available below deck.
Sargo 45 Explorer
Designed with different weather conditions in mind, the Sargo 45 Explorer aims to be a complete boat, capable of providing comfort when sailing as well as at anchor or at anchor. Furniture and design thus emphasize this commitment, such as the pilot-house roof on deck, which can be opened wide by sliding inserts.
Sargo 45 Explorer – Exterior
The look is the now typical Scandinavian all-season look: clean, pragmatic and capable of inspiring confidence from the very first glance. Volumes are balanced, with the wheelhouse bow window tilted “backwards,” a solution that not only gains space but also lightens the forms. Starting from the stern, one is immediately greeted by a swim platform on the water, separated from the cockpit by a broadside with a hatch, a suitable solution for protecting spaces even in rough seas.
Here in the cockpit is an L-shaped sofa with table, to which free-standing seats are added. The space is then used as a convivial area, well protected on the sides and above by an extension of the pilot-house roof.
In the bow, accessible by two walkways, is a second outdoor area. Here we find, in addition to a double sundeck positioned on the deckhouse, a second social area, complete with a sofa, double seats and coffee table. On the stern, however, there is an access to the outside, a feature of Scandinavian boats.
Sargo 45 Explorer – Interior
Shifting the focus to “enclosed spaces,” the Sargo 45 immediately welcomes with a spacious and comfortable pilot-house. Here, accessed from the cockpit, there is immediately a large C-shaped sofa for 8 people with a central table to port, while to starboard is the galley, whose various appliances can be covered by a marble-like top.
Just beyond, the wheelhouse takes its place, served, to starboard, by the helmsman’s seat and, to port, by 3 additional passenger seats. Also located here are the entrances to the lower deck, where services and cabins are located.
As for the “sleeping area,” or spaces below deck, the shipyard offers two layout options. In a first case, the 2-cabin, 4-bed version, we find a spacious forward owner’s quarters, complete with a double bed, sofa and storage spaces. Of course, served by a private bathroom with shower. In the stern, on the other hand, a second double cabin takes its place, equipped with a private bathroom, with shower, and single beds, which can be joined together, however.
In the 3-cabin version, the aft layout does not change, while a portion of the forward cabin is reduced to make room for a third double cabin with a double bed. In this case, the forward bathroom results in shared use.
Propulsion
In terms of motorization, Sargo’s new 45-footer offers two distinct options. In the first case, a pair of Sterndrive DPIs with 440 horsepower each, or, in the second variant, twin IPS 650s with 480 horsepower each. In contrast, the stated cruising speed is 30 knots.
