Work underway in southern Morocco on the new industrial port of Port Laâyoune
For more than four decades, Ingemar pontoons have framed the majority of marinas in the Mediterranean and beyond, but today their role goes far beyond simple mooring. The company, which specializes in floating structures made of reinforced concrete and steel, has become a reference for those who want to rethink water spaces: from marinas for superyachts to smalldocks, to event platforms, walkways and solutions outside the strictly nautical perimeter.
The strong point is modularity: floating docks make it possible to intervene in a progressive manner, with rapid timing and predictable costs, regardless of the seabed and without the invasive works typical of fixed docks. This has enabled Ingemar to follow major redevelopment projects in Italy and abroad, expanding existing ports or creating new landings where previously there was only exposed shoreline or old infrastructure.
Abroad, the Ingemar name is linked to some of the “hottest” yachting destinations. In Tivat, Montenegro, in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed bay of Kotor, the company is overseeing a new expansion of floating docks, continuing a partnership that began in 2009 with PortoMonenegro with the supply of breakwaters, and gradually accompanied by subsequent expansions, up to the latest expansion that adds 24- to 48-m headers to existing docks.
Port of Gambarogno – Lake Maggiore, Switzerland
On the Swiss side of Lake Maggiore, Ingemar has completed the new GambarognoPort: 440 meters of piers, 96 of docks and 137 fingers for 280 berths, installed on a very complex anchorage system designed to handle the lake’s sharp changes in level. Also in Switzerland, a new king-size groin for permanent and transit moorings was launched in Locarno, with 3-meter-wide pontoons anchored with telescopic piles to follow the excursions of the reservoir.
Even more challenging, from an engineering point of view, are the ongoing projects in Koper, Slovenia, where a 160 x 10-m concrete floating pier for the Navy is being installed, and in PortLaâyoune, southern Morocco, where Ingemar is building 400-ton floating modules for mooring large tugs in an offshore port dedicated to phosphate exports. Interventions that also bring the company back into the world of large vessels, after experience with coast guards and navies in several countries.
On the domestic front, 2025 is also the year of diversification for Ingemar, which has revised the production cycle, introduced mobile shipyards, outsourced minor work and started licensed productions in remote areas, while inserting new young resources in the technical, commercial and production departments. This has allowed Ingemar to deal with a dense order book, including new orders and deliveries slipped since 2024, and to open up to different uses of the floating structures, from supporting large shipyards – such as the new pontoons for Ferretti Group in Ravenna – to the kayak and paracanoe platforms created as part of Marina4All.
Ingemar. Ports increasingly accessible for all
The new jetty that simplifies water access built by Ingemar in Goito, Mincio Regional Park
The facilities built by Ingemar in Goito and VoltaMantonava (in the Mincio Regional Park) facilitate access to the water for people with disabilities who want to practice canoeing and kayaking, thanks to the use of specialslings to support the canoes, which also allow disabled athletes to independently and safely perform all boarding and disembarking operations.
The two works, twin in main structure, rise 8 km apart on the same waterway and differ in their access and anchoring systems, calibrated to suit different host sites. The platforms are made of strong extruded aluminum profiles, floating units made of rotational polyethylene, and slatted decks made of durable precious woods, and are a new solution of the inter-corporate project Marina4all, which has been researching, implementing, and promoting solutions that improve the accessibility and comfort of recreational facilities since 2023.
It is precisely the theme ofaccessibility that has been one of the main threads of Ingemar’s presence at major events: from the Venice and Genoa boat shows, where the company’s pontoons have been the public’s “promenade” for years, to the World Marinas Conference – ICOMIA 2025 in Venice, where Ingemar is a technical sponsor. The stated goal is twofold: to continue to propose floating pontoons and breakwaters as a flexible tool for rethinking ports and marinas, and at the same time to experiment with new uses-from high-end superyachts to accessible boating-in an industry that increasingly demands smart and modular infrastructure.
