With its Midi Ilumen M35, Dominator Yachts seems to have wanted to reproduce a superyacht a miniature, adapting the shapes, spaces and comforts of a much larger boat into just 10.5 meters in length. The yacht is part of Dominator’s Ilumen Series, a range of high-end day boats that over the years has seen the creation of boats ranging from 24 to 39 meters in length. With this model the shipyard seems to be going somewhat against the trend, not only with its classic production, but also with a market that in recent years seems to have focused only on extra-large square footage. The model is designed both as a day-boat or weekender and to be experienced as a tender for a larger boat. Let’s see what it looks like.
A 10m that wants to be a superyacht
The lines of the Midi Ilumen M35 are understated and elegant, although looking at the boat from a distance, as a whole, it is immediately clear that it has asporty and aggressive soul. Technical characteristics and design are obviously affected by Dominator Yacht ‘s experience on entirely different metrics, and in fact on this boat the challenge was to adapt the yard’s typical style to a 10.5-meter boat.
Exteriors
Accessing the swim platform from the stern, one can appreciate an elegant step that hides a retractable light and introduces the central tunnel that separates the two large twin sundecks, left and right. They are made as a single seat that on one side forms a sundeck facing the stern, and on the other side rises and then quickly descends to form seats facing the bow. This feature makes it possible to form a true C-shaped settee in the central cockpit area, where the refrigerator, barbecue area, and ice machine are also located. Also in the same area, to starboard, is the command station with the pilot’s seat and Raymarine instrumentation (on board is the YachtSense ecosystem), while on the other side is access to the below-deck area.
Centrally there are three teak steps leading to the bow area. The entire cockpit area is protected by a very uniquely designed carbon hard top (in the classic Dominator style) with roll bars and struts to also support the inverted windshield and a sunroof that allows both sun and shade to be appreciated.
At the bow the area is designed to remain “clean” and essential, but if desired it can be customized with sundecks to surround the cabin skylight.
Midi M35 – Interior
The interior of the Midi M35 is very bright, thanks to the windows that wrap around the entire area below deck and thanks to the panoramic porthole that overlooks the sky. The room is unique and consists of a C-shaped sofa with electric coffee table (which can be turned into an extra bed) and kitchen area with sink and refrigerator, coffee maker, and concealed storage spaces. In the bow is the large full-beam double bed, which takes full advantage of the lines of the hull to create a convenient and comfortable area.
The only separate room is the bathroom, which is located to starboard and is bordered by a wall of technological glass, which can be translucent or transparent depending on the occupants’ wishes. A gray parquet floor was chosen for the floor, while the furniture is oak and the upholstery is Alcantara; in the bathroom, however, the surfaces are Astana Grey.
Data sheet
Depending on the engine option selected, the Midi M35 can reach maximum speeds between 35 and 48 knots. The hull was designed with optimization not only for maximum speed, but also for excellent performance at cruising speed. This provides the owner with a range of about 300 nautical miles, making this boat an ideal solution for weekends and even outings of a few days.
