Where the most classic of “nautical” materials meets the most advanced technologies, decidedly fascinating boats can be born. This is the case with the Castagnola Heritage 15, a hull born in Lavagna, near Genoa on the Riviera di Levante, from the meeting of wood and carbon fiber .

We are looking at a 15-meter motor boat that uses a patented process devised by the shipwright Gabriele Maestri, under the name of Wood in Tech Skin by which solid mahogany planking is made using the ‘strip-planking’ technique combined with a lamination process: the outer surface of the hull is coated with a thin layer of carbon fiber and epoxy resin and treated with breathable paints.

In addition to the skilful hand of the shipwright, other contemporary nautical gurus such as Francesco Rogantin’s Names studio for what concerns naval architecture and hull engineering and Nauta Design studio, creator of the interior and exterior design, sign the Ligurian shipyard’s project.

Castagnola Heritage 15

Castagnola’s Heritage 15 continues along the route charted by theHeritage 9.9 with the same streamlined cavallino family descending to the transom. Interior and exterior, as anticipated, are precisely by Nauta Design. On the deck, we have a separation between the relaxation area, consisting of the two aft sundecks and sofas facing the aft platform with tender garage, and the convivial area with fully equipped kitchen behind the wheelhouse.

Castagnola Heritage 15 – Cabins

Below deck there are two layout options: one with two guest cabins with two bathrooms and separate shower stalls or a small relaxation area, again with two cabins and two bathrooms, but without shower stalls. The uniqueness of this hull lies, then, in the possibility of changing the below-deck layout as needed.

Hull and Engines

The hull lines, as well as naval architecture and hull engineering, are by Francesco Rogantin’s Names studio. The Heritage 15 is powered by two MAN I6 turbodiesel engines of 730 hp each with traditional shaftline and ZF 325 1 A inverters. The top speed is estimated to be around 34 knots with the cruising speed being around 27 knots.
