More powerful, faster, still goiter. Perhaps. Let’s say that the gozzo is no longer just the slow, “mumbling” boat with the old diesel engines we usually think of when evoking the quintessential classic Italian hull. Buoyed by the new wave of success, with the 35 towing as a best-seller, Apreamare has speed-loving owners in its sights. How? With the new Gozzo 35 Speedster. The shipyard, owned by the Pollio and Aprea families, now unveils a top 40-knot thoroughbred with three outboards of 300 horsepower each. Numbers that immediately propel the Sorrentine gozzo into the universe of fast motorboats, particularly among fast-cruisers, given the characteristics including interior.

The planing goiter is now increasingly common in the market. A 900-horsepower outboard meter model, however, is a first. Of course, placing nearly 1,000 horsepower on a bracket is not enough to achieve sporty performance. The hull is the work of Umberto Tagliavini of Marine Design, supported by Cataldo Aprea, and is optimized to best interpret the thrust of the three outboards.
The result is a muscular, yet fine-line walkaround goiter with monstrous power. All while retaining that Mediterranean charm of which the Gozzo 35 is an excellent interpreter. The black livery of the first Speedster to come out will only accentuate the bad boy character of this new edition.
The news of this “turbo-gozzo” is not a bolt out of the blue. The most attentive observers of the scene had not missed the presence of
Apremare
in the United States at the last
Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show
. It was during the U.S. boat show that the shipyard had unveiled its outboard version of this model, garnering much interest around the project. That Americans have a weakness for the elegant appeal of “European” boats is well known. However, this does not mean that they are willing to give up performance. If, however, these two elements can be properly combined, attracting the interest of one of the world’s most vibrant markets is already easier.

In fact, Apreamare’s new Speedster will not be too different from the “classic” version of the
Gozzo 35
. Some differences, however, are there. Meanwhile, the outboards not only make it faster, but also change the layout on board. From the deck plan designed by Marco Casali of Too Design, you will be able to access a large locker (where the engine room used to be) with space to house water toys or whatever you want to stow on board.
The aft platform, then, despite the presence of the three large outboards, will still allow easy and smooth access to the sea. This is an essential element given the nature of hull to remain in close contact with the sea.
The shipyard then highlights how this version will bring more “ease of maneuvering and speed with the outboard thrusters that will then allow for greater overall lightness, ease of maintenance, and lower costs than the inboard version.”
