Dometic - DG3 Gyroscopic Stabilizer
Dometic – DG3 Gyroscopic Stabilizer

Dometic, a brand well known for its outdoor and marine technology solutions, has officially entered the boat stabilizer market with the launch of the DG3. This gyroscopic stabilizer promises to offer highly competitive performance on boats up to about 12.5 meters in length.

The features of Dometic’s DG3

  • Exceptional startup and shutdown times. The system developed by Dometic achieves full operation in just 16 minutes, reducing the waiting time to be ready to sail immediately. Full shutdown , on the other hand, occurs in 20 minutes.
  • Energy efficiency. Thanks to innovations in energy storage and recovery, the DG3 consumes (according to Dometic) 40 percent less energy than competing solutions.
  • All-electric system. Proprietary electric precession actuator eliminates the need for hydraulic systems, reducing maintenance and risk of leakage.
  • Integration and compatibility. Designed as a “plug-and-play” replacement for existing systems, the DG3 is compatible with 12, 24 and 48 V electrical systems, adapting to a wide range of boats. Dometic plans to expand the series with models for different boat sizes.

The first step in stabilization

The launch of the DG3 marks a significant moment for Dometic, which had already begun expanding its marine product catalog in recent years. No longer just refrigerators, iceboxes and blackouts or curtains, then, but also air conditioning and heating systems, wheelhouses and controllers, ovens and kitchen accessories, to which stabilization systems are now added.

Eric Fetchko, president of Dometic‘s marine business, commented, “We are not just launching a new product, we are bringing Dometic into an important new category for the global marine industry. The DG3 aims to make boating more accessible to those who are seasick, potentially expanding the boating market.”

The company is already exploring ways to integrate this technology with other navigation and control solutions, promising further development for larger boats.
