There is a new entry in Yamaha’ s powertrain lineup. It is the new 1900 cc naturally aspirated engine capable of achieving 200 hp of power at 7600 rpm. This engine replaces the previous 1800 cc, 180 hp engine with which some of the brand’s jetskis with the Y-shaped logo were equipped.
What Yamaha’s new in-house engine looks like
Yamaha’s new 200-horsepower engine has been improved in structure and fuel economy, with a new timing chain designed to generate less noise and with improvements to the valve cooling system as well, plus the bore has been increased from 86 mm to 88 mm. It is a Aspirated engine with 200 horsepower from 1,900 cc that consumes much less oil than the previous model, without compromising performance. It is able to reach and enjoy very good speeds and has very good endurance, while still working almost all the time at medium-high rpm, which is a typical feature of engines that propel jetskis. It will also retire-likely, in time-the old 1,800 cc supercharged engine, capable of 255 horsepower, found on the most powerful models in the WaveRunner range. A difference that will not be noticeable in top speeds, since manufacturers are used to electronically limiting it.
On which jetskis and boats we will see it
In fact, this new engine was yes designed to equip HO models in Yamaha’s WaveRunner range, one of the most popular among jet ski enthusiasts, but also to propel some of the brand’s waterjet sport boats. It can be found, for example, aboard theFSH 220 Sport, a fast fishing boat that has sold quite a few especially in the U.S. market. This boat mounts two new 200-horsepower engines thus reaching a total output of an impressive 400 horsepower. It remains to be seen whether we will also see it aboard models for sale in the European market.
