The Feltrinelli Boatyard recently completed the restoration and upgrade of a 2006 Frauscher 686 Lido , a model now out of production but still beloved by enthusiasts. The work transformed the boat into a unique, custom-built specimen, proudly returned to its owner.
The second official launch, following delivery to her first owner, was held in Menaggio at Nautica Navalia, one of the selected centers that collaborates with Frauscher Italia for after-sales service, in constant contact with the office on Lake Garda. The work, carried out at the Gargnano shipyard on Lake Garda between winter 2024 and spring 2025, required specialized skills to make this boat more reliable, efficient, and high-performance, thanks to the use of cutting-edge technologies and materials not available at the time of original production.
As a testament to the excellence of the project, the 686 Lido was displayed at the Venice Boat Show within the “Collector’s Corner,” the area dedicated by Cantiere Feltrinelli to the enhancement of historic Frauscher models. Each boat that becomes part of this collection is transformed into a unique piece, marked by the “1 of 1” plate , a symbol of a one-off project. An initiative that emphasizes how a quality refit can give new life to iconic boats, preserving their value and charm over time.
The restoration involved all aspects of the boat, with special attention to the technical compartment. The engine has been updated with a modern 300 hp Volvo Penta V8, providing more power and reduced fuel consumption. The entire electrical system has been rebuilt, the fuel lines replaced, and a new 7-inch Glasscockpit digital instrumentation integrated. The audio system has also been completely revamped with a Fusion – JL Audio system equipped with Bluetooth connectivity.
Structurally, every detail was treated with craftsmanship and respect for the original design: the hull was reinforced without changing its lines, thus preserving the style that made the 686 Lido an icon of the Frauscher brand. The intervention also included a major aesthetic evolution: the hull was repainted in Bentley Steel Blue, one of the distinctive colors of the Frauscher palette, while the upholstery was finished with diamond stitching “diamond stitching” and enriched by the “Collector’s Corner” logo embroidered on the headrests. Completing the design are a new teak decking and an elongated stern platform, which enhances functionality while maintaining elegant lines.
“The refit project of the Frauscher 686 Lido has allowed us to enhance a historic model of the brand, demonstrating its relevance in terms of performance, charm and value,” says Mauro Feltrinelli, who continues, “Renovating a boat like this means offering her new energy and safety, with all the charm of the original design. We invite every Frauscher owner to take care of their boat, even if it is dated: it is an investment that maintains value over time; it is a gesture of sustainability that strengthens our bond with tradition and with Lake Garda.”
