Torqeedo presented at Mets the new version of its bestseller, the Travel electric outboard. Its orange electric outboards are famous (and recognizable) all over the world, especially the Travel, the best-selling model ever with about 100,000 units delivered, which is now being revamped to suit different uses. This is what the four new versions of the“Torqeedo Family” look like.

Torqeedo’s Travel goes all out

Of all the electric motors produced by Torqeedo, the Travel is by far the most popular and best-selling model on the market. The German manufacturer famous for its orange outboards has decided to revamp its iconic Travel outboard by presenting new versions at Mets in Amsterdam. Yes, because after selling more than 100,000 units worldwide, Torqeedo has studied four new versions of the Travel electric outboard. The decision was also made due to continuous feedback from customers, each with their own different type of use, offshore, tender, sailboat, which prompted the brand to create four new versions each dedicated to a specific use. This is how the “Travel Family” was born, with four different packages to choose from at the purchase stage, to have the one best suited to our use.

  • Essential Package – Travel S

This is the closest to the “original” Travel. It has been redesigned and combines the 1,100 W (3 hp) outboard motor with a 1,080 Wh battery. Suitable for tenders, dinghies and daysailers up to 1.5 tons. Weight: 11.6 kg.

  • Adventure Package – Travel Ultralight

Here we find the same features as the Essential Package but with a new mounting and conducting system, which makes it possible to reach even places with very limited draft by being able to change the Travel angle easily. It is also suitable for mounting on canoes and kayaks. Weight: 9.8 kg.

  • Range Package – Travel S

In the Range package we find a larger battery than the one installed as standard. As many as 1,425 Wh to have much more range and power the electric outboard even longer. Suitable for tenders, dinghies and daysailers up to 1.5 tons. Weight: about 12 kg,

All new Travel S motors start with a minimum power output of 1,100 W (about 3 hp equivalent) and a minimum battery of 1,080 Wh. A 180 W charger and backlit color display are included in the standard equipment to keep track of the range at all times. With TorqLink, a whole range of functions, including maps, trip logs, and over-the-air updates, can also be used from the Torqeedo app for smartphones and tablets.

The battery design is 100% plug-and-play-there are no cables or connectors to fix-just insert the battery into the housing and you are ready to go. The new tiller allows even more precise steering and also enables rapid operation of reverse gear. With the new design, the Travel S has a 90-degree tilting transom with several types of tilt to choose from (there is also an option to raise the engine completely out of the water), and the control lever allows the steering beam to be locked in 3 positions: fixed, +/- 60° and 360°.

  • The new engines will be available in early 2024. For information visit the manufacturer’s website torqeedo.com
