His name was Calogero Polizzi, he was 63 years old and an Italian who emigrated to the United States. He died last Oct. 13 after becoming trapped in his small motor cabin cruiser (a 22-foot, just under 7 meters) overturned, near Devilfish Key, east of Boca Grande Boca Grande (Charlotte County, Florida).

Divers who came to the rescue managed to extract him from the boat but it was too late; the man was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to reconstructions, Polizzi was sailing with his friend Eli Mack, 46, of Port Charlotte, when the hull suddenly began taking on water, so fast that it capsized.

It is unclear why the man, despite the fact that the situation was escalating so quickly, went below deck. Mack was rescued, emerging unscathed (but in shock) from the accident.
