Versari Collection boarding cap with square key lock - Foresti & Suardi
Versari Collection boarding cap with square key lock – Foresti & Suardi

Often on boats we tend to see the whole while neglecting the details, and this sometimes leads to not noticing (or not wanting to see) poor finishes, hinges not secure enough, poor quality materials. But the smooth running of a boat, as in so many other things, is really in the details. And among nautical accessories there are several that are often underrated, such as the one we are discussing today, the new boarding cap from Foresti & Suardi.

Behind what may appear to be the simplest of nautical accessories lies the attention to detail in Foresti & Suardi’s workmanship. The cap in question is the flagship product of the Versari Collection, the line of the former Versari & Delmonte, now acquired by the Bergamo-based company. It is made with the precision of computerized numerical control (CNC) machines that allow machining to be verified to the millimeter. The lines are essential and functional but do not neglect the elegance typical of Made in Italy, on the contrary. The materials chosen to process the cap are valuable and durable, in fact, one can choose either to have it in AISI 316L stainless steel with a polished finish or in anodized aluminum, with a silver or gold finish.

Boarding cap – For water, fuel or sewage

The cap can have multiple uses: it can be used for the fuel tank, the freshwater tank, and even the black water tank. It installs very easily thanks to the lower threaded flange, which together with the locking screws holds the cap firmly in place and on the outside remains absolutely flush with the deck. The body is fully machined and has a drainage scupper inside, while watertightness is ensured by the hinged lid, which is available with either ball-lock or toggle latch. In the latter case, it is possible to have a square key lock for added security.

The Versari Collection boarding cap from Foresti & Suardi with ball lock is available in 135- or 181.5-millimeter diameters; the one with square key lock, on the other hand, can be purchased in 79-, 110-, or 140-millimeter diameters.
