If we think of the out-of-chorus boats that have just been launched (2025), in an imaginary race the Twiel Z7 would definitely enter the race for the podium. It is a wooden catamaran that looks like a 1940s car, at least seen from the bow. It is not the “useful,” all-comfort boat, but neither is it the classic day-boat we are used to. Let’s look at it in a little more detail.

Twiel Z7

From Lake Constance comes this catamaran with lines described as “neo-retro”-a little bit modern, a little bit vintage. Undoubtedly the likelihood of people stopping you to ask “what is this?” is higher than the likelihood that you will be stopped at the harbor exit on the one day you are undocumented. And Murphy’s Law tends not to be wrong.

All aesthetic? No. The shipyard wanted to combine cutting-edge construction technology with traditional craftsmanship and high-quality materials. Then it’s electric. Why? It responds to a need, first and foremost, related to the area in which it was born: Lake Constance, which will ban combustion-engine powered navigation from 2023.

But how much does it cost?

Logical, then, to opt for the catamaran, which is more hull-efficient than the monohull and allows for increased range. Even the dashboard gives the idea of a somewhat modern and somewhat classic craft. What is really surprising, however, is the price. 387 thousand euros. Watch it in the video below!
