The main characteristics of a chase boat design comfort, functionality and customization. TYKUN X was born exactly on these principles, but goes much further. Presented, not surprisingly, at the Monaco Yacht Show, the benchmark show for large yachts, TYKUN X is a 10.5-meter all-aluminum boat that brings to a tailor-made product the experience gained on defense and public administration hulls. Behind the new TYKUN brand is in fact the MED Group, a Cervia-based shipyard with undisputed experience in the professional sector.

TIKYUN X

Concept and design resulting from the collaboration between MED, architect Tommaso Spadolini and consultant Benedetta Iovine: clean lines, inverted windshield and (launch) gray color betray a certain military-style. But beyond the aesthetics, as we said, there is the substance of a double-redan hull, signed by architect Carlo Bertorello, designed to cope with all kinds of conditions.

With two Mercury Verado 400s, under test with four people and half a tank of fuel, TYKUN X exceeded 52 knots, with a maximum attested up to 55 knots and a wide cruising window between 25 and 40 knots. But it is in rough seas that the boat is at its best. Tackling crossed and unpredictable waves exceeding 2.5 meters in height, TYKUN X proved surprisingly maneuverable, easy to steer and equally comfortable for guests.

Modular layout

The aluminum-from the hull to the superstructure-allows for a very high level of customization: from the cockpit layout (folding bulwarks, foam perimeter fender) to the wheelhouse to the central wet-bar (sink, refrigerator, grill). Two C-shaped sofas convert into sunbeds/sunbeds; there is a large built-in sundeck in the bow. Below deck, small space for a V berth and bathroom for long weekends. Transparent closures on the hardtop (carbon) complete a truly multifunctional platform.

Range, future and sustainability

TYKUN is not just one model but already a whole range, divided into 8, 10 and 12 meters, and already larger models are planned to come. The approach will remain “one-off”: each boat is a project, exploiting the peculiarities of aluminum. In addition, the choice of aluminum also weighs environmental considerations: it is light, repairable and recyclable, ideal for long life cycles and possible refits. And speaking of sustainability, the shipyard has developed TYKUN H1, a hydrogen fuel cell version co-engineered with TESYA Group (thanks to the experience gained on Bluegame chase boats for the 37th America’s Cup), which is already pre-certified and can be ordered.
