Sporty lines and an important family feeling characterize the latest sport cruiser launched by Galeon Yachts, a 14-meter built in collaboration with Tony Castro and designed for those who, in their outings, do not want to miss anything. Propelled by a pair of Volvo Penta D6 engines, the new Galeon 450 HTC-that ‘s the model’s name-offers several solutions for maximizing outdoor space, including fold-down broadside and optional aft beach mode.
Galeon 450 HTC – Preview
By virtue of its sport cruiser attitude, there will also be no shortage of space on the Galeon 450 HTC to enjoy cruising, divided over 2 or 3 cabins in the sleeping area and a large living area with kitchen on the main deck. In anticipation of its international debut at the upcoming Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, here is our preview.
Galeon 450 HTC – Exterior
Large broadside windows and balanced volumes give the new HTC Galeon 450 a sleek look with a “sporty” soul, although, in fact, the underlying spirit also looks very much at comfort and usability of volumes. The latter, a detail already evident right from the aft bridge, where the platform, with the optional Beach Mode, can be lowered and submerged below the water surface. A solution that, integrated with the folding cockpit bulwarks, creates a true beach area throughout the aft portion of the hull.
To complete the aft spaces, overlooking the salon (whose aft window can be fully opened) the cockpit houses a classic central L-shaped sofa served by a coffee table. Two walkways then lead to the forward spaces, populated by a large sunpad recessed on the deckhouse. Finally, further aiding the union of interior and exterior, already reflected in the large windows and the aft wall that can be fully opened to the cockpit, the salon top also intervenes, sliding aft to “open up” the entire living area.
Finally, the “outdoor kitchen” does not go unnoticed; integrated into the aft body facing the bridge is in fact also grill/barbeque top complete with storage and sink, ideal for one’s days at anchor.
Interior
Airy and surrounded by glass windows, the interiors are curated to maximize natural light and contact with the outdoors, as underscored by the sunroof and the aft portion of the living area that can be opened wide. The salon then continues in continuity with the cockpit, offering an initial lounge area with sofas and furniture, followed toward the bow by a galley area to port and the helm station to starboard.
Turning to the below deck, the new 14-meter offers two main configurations, with two double cabins, or with two double cabins and a third cabin, twin with overlapping single beds, respectively. In both cases, the two doubles occupy the entire beam, one at the stern and one at the bow. In the case of the third cabin addition, we see the size of the two toilet rooms reduced, no longer on opposite sides but reduced to the single starboard broadside.
Galeon 450 HTC – Motorization and performance
In terms of more technical features, power is provided by a pair of Volvo Penta D6s of 480 horsepower each. Instead, the transmission will be provided by a V-Drive system while, in terms of range, the fuel tank will have a combined total of 1700 liters to offer.
