Today’s best used boats are some great classics of the past. In 1999 Beneteau unveiled a small flybridge of about ten meters in length that is truly versatile, comfortable, and has excellent value for money: the Antares 10.80. This model is characterized by distinctly balanced exteriors, both dimensionally and aesthetically, and compartmentalized interiors prioritizing usability and privacy.

CONSTRUCTION
The hull is constructed of polyester laminate with integral sandwich and counter-mold. The deck and superstructure, which are also counter-molded, are made of balsa sandwich. The aft platform is not integrated, but brought back.
COVER – Antares 10.80
The cockpit, finished in teak in the footing and on the mainsail head, is fully splayed to access the engines. A tuna door to starboard leads to the aft bathing platform, also lined with teak and equipped with a swim ladder. Dock landing or tender hauling takes place, depending on the option present, via an electrohydraulic gangway or to a pair of davits. A stainless steel and teak staircase-somewhat steep-gives access to the fly.
In order not to weigh down the livery, the aft overhang of the superstructure is small: this results in poor cockpit protection and limited upper deck area. However, the layout of this space is well organized, with two seats and a comfortable chaise lounge sundeck to the pilot’s starboard. Many specimens are equipped with a protective cockpit awning.
The walkaround is sufficiently walkable and is protected by the stainless steel perimeter handrail. The sunbeds (optional) on the forward deckhouse are spacious and well accommodated, while the forward anchor station is embellished with a teak surface. The living room windows are tempered glass with aluminum frames.
INTERIOR AND SYSTEMS – Antares 10.80
The deck living area is organized with a convertible C-shaped dinette on the left. Opposite is the kitchen block with worktop, 80-liter refrigerator, and, concealed, the two-burner cooktop with tilting oven and sink. Toward the bow we find, on the starboard side, the pilot’s seat and, on the port side, the two-seat co-pilot’s settee with a large chart area.
The below-deck area consists of an excellent forward double cabin and a second separate guest cabin with twin beds or one large double. In addition, we find an excellent double-entry toilet room with separate toilet-shower environment.
Although so much is exposed fiberglass, there is no shortage of leatherette inserts in the ceilings and salon walls. There is also widespread use of fine woods: cherry in early freshmen and pear in newer ones. Standard we find the water heater, autoclave and battery charger, and frequently installed among the options are the generator and black water tank. It is rare to find air conditioning.
MOTORING AND NAVIGATION – Antares 10.80
The pair of Volvo Penta KAMD44P EB TD 260-horsepower engines ensured a top speed of 28 knots and cruising speed of 25 with a remarkable range of more than 360 miles. In recent years, 300 horsepower (Volvo or Yanmar) has also been installed. The planing V-shaped hull with approval length under ten meters allows it to be steered without a license, as well as good marine qualities of stability and maneuverability.
RATING – Antares 10.80
In keeping with Beneteau’s tradition, this is also a large-series product: in fact, there have been over 480, including almost fifty in Italy, Antares 10.80s sold (a figure dating back to 2008). New in standard version, in 1999 it cost about 283 million lira (about 145 thousand euros), excluding VAT. Today on the used boat market, the Beneteau Antares 10.80 can be found between 55,000 and 90,000 euros depending on condition.
