3 used boats with excellent marine qualities

Sea Cube S 43

There is fun to be had on the Sea Cube S43 because, with the well-chosen “trident” of hull, engines and surface propellers, the boat always manages to perform at its best. Plenty of surprises in habitability, too, with the interiors featuring such modularity that you can have a huge open space suite just for the owner or two separate compartments.

Truly numerous, then, are the technological goodies that make the spaces more versatile and practical in their use.

At first glance, the cockpit appears basic, but then one discovers many hidden parts, such as the refrigerator, which is flush with the broadside, and the sink, which is next to the helm station, under a flap panel, which in turn can be used as a chart top when closed.

Three important things on deck: the tender garage and the engine compartment, both under the sundeck, have an independent opening, towards the stern the garage opens, and towards the bow the engine cove.

Then there is the roll bar, which hides two awnings at the bow and stern, and, finally, the dinette, which takes advantage of the pilot’s couch by folding it back 90 degrees.

Among the innovative solutions is the modularity of the space, which allows the owner to get two cabins or, when he has no guests, to join the living room and his cabin into one open space, resulting in a large personal suite just like on large yachts that have a bed and living room.

Room division is made possible by folding bulkheads, which disappear inside the walls and take no more than ten seconds to move. On the other hand, when there are overnight guests, the left sofa converts into a double bunk bed, one is recessed in the seat, the other in the rocker back.

Bavaria Sport 39

The Sport 39 comes with great potential for habitability and improved aesthetics. Excellent hull that enhances the marine qualities of this boat, which also qualifies for the affordability of the purchase price.

It is an eclectic boat that can also be had with a hardtop. On board everything is where you expect to find it and everything abounds, not only in the size of the spaces, but also in the size of the furnishings. In keeping with the Bavaria tradition, there is a great choice for engines, which can be diesel or gasoline, MerCruiser or Volvo Penta, and with the option of having a maneuvering joystick.

The cockpit has a sofa with a reclining backrest so that the sundeck can be expanded, while the dinette continues to the left with a large C-shaped seat.

One can then sit on the chaise longue in the bow and keep company with the pilot who has his command post to starboard where, behind, there is also the bar cabinet that can be fitted with a grill to complement its function as an open kitchen. Comfortable walkways, a bit sacrificed instead the forward sundeck, but it is not serious because the en plein air cockpit offers all possible situations to enjoy the sun and tan.

It is really surprising how much space has been made inside this boat in the central area where the guest cabin is: the height is two meters for much of the access area, as well as in the saloon and the other forward cabin; to starboard there is a settee that could also become a bunk for a child, and then the two single beds are well sized and spaced apart and can be made into a single double element. There is only one bathroom and it also has a large separate shower stall.

Beneteau Flyer GT 49 Fly

The flying bridge of the Flyer Grand Turismo series best enhances the characteristics of these Beneteau, which represent the top of the French shipyard’s offerings, with a sporty style that is always reminiscent of elegant tones.

Strikingly, the French shipyard’s presentation emphasizes that in this range the “Gran Turismo concept is a typically Italian art of living, inspiring refined style, a sporty temperament, but also beautiful interior volumes.”

True to this philosophy, the design, prioritizes sailing comfort and convenience of life on board. The upper deck is outfitted with a large full-beam aft dinette, served by a wetbar, that extends to starboard to the side of the bridge with a comfortable chaise longue; the second wheelhouse has two seats for pilot and co-pilot. On the main deck good cockpit volume where a dinette can be set up and generous is the sizing of the forward sundeck. Note that the aft platform can be lowered so that it can be transformed into a comfortable bathing platform.

Inside, the boat maintains the same layout as the open, so below deck it offers two cabins, which can become three by eliminating the dinette, to which are matched two bathrooms with shower stalls. Note that in the two-cabin version these are arranged at the extremes to provide a high degree of privacy, the owner’s cabin is amidships full beam. Completing the layout is the kitchen cabinet that takes advantage of the opening to the upper deck for ventilation. On the main deck, the dinette is to the left and extends to the staircase down to the sleeping area, while in front a cabinet provides ample storage and also houses the hideaway TV. The dashboard with a double sofa completes the layout.
