With summer just around the corner, one wonders if the emergency will be over and if the beaches will reopen. It is too early to say, but it is not too early to think of an alternative. We offer four small open boats that can be driven without a license to enjoy the sea freely with family or friends. Bargains can be found on the used market for a few thousand euros.

Four small open boats to drive without a license
Saver 560 WA
A multipurpose open, on which two people can also spend the night. The boat is trailerable and can also be used without a license. The cockpit has an aft settee, plus another settee for use by the pilot and co-pilot, which can be folded down to reveal a top equipped with a sink. For sunbathing there is the entire bow area, which is fully padded, while for diving into the sea there are the two side platforms, one of which is equipped with a ladder for climbing up and useful handles.
But the most interesting peculiarity of the 560 WA is surely that despite its small size, we have managed to create a cabin under the sundeck, which can accommodate a couple of people in two single bunks or alternatively, with the addition of the completion floor, in a double bed. This solution allows the pleasure of sailing to be prolonged beyond traditional daytime use by providing the opportunity to spend the night on board, either in port or in some roadstead.

- Loa: 7.93 m
- B.max: 2.23 m

Sessa Marine Key Largo One
Small open with a lot of personality when it comes to aesthetics and technical innovation. It is ideal for everyone, and can especially delight boaters without a license, because it makes even those who sail on the “small” feel “a big one.” After all, what Christian Grande creates is something that always leaves its mark. The three-dimensional hull is sculpted into a beautiful shape and is colored a very pleasing turquoise, also echoed in the dashboard. Even the retractable awning is stylized, and the 42-liter refrigerator bar is not missing on board either.
The cockpit, then, can be transformed from an open area into a nice living room with dinette by simply sliding the pilot’s backrest so that the seat faces the aft sofa. The bow, however, is all for the sundeck, which can be expanded with the circular table that forms the dinette aft.

Quicksilver Activ 505 Open
Small open capable of providing lots of fun and good comfort on board, thanks in part to the versatility of the cockpit. Safety, comfort, versatility, design, and storage space are the defining aspects of the Quicksilver Activ 505 Open, which reveals a simple but well usable cockpit. Here, in fact, is a full-beam sofa positioned along the transom, plus two other seats serving the pilot and co-pilot. Behind, two sections on either side of the engine serve as small swim platforms, one of which has a swim ladder.
The bow area is more versatile, because from the two opposing seats, by adding the special connecting element between the two sofas, an extended sunbathing area can be obtained. There is also a large storage locker built under the control console for stowage.
The Quicksilver Activ 505 Open is sold as a package with a Mercury engine, which can have a maximum installable horsepower of 60 and is powered by a 50-liter fuel tank.
