A boat with unique charm has been put on the market. English style, built in wood almost 100 years ago: Katja, this is the name of the boat, was built in 1929 by the Brooke shipyard in England and has since arrived intact to the present day thanks to the care of the four owners who have succeeded one another over the decades. In 2003 the boat was completely refitted in Italy by the Fratelli Mileo shipyard in Castellabate (SA), an area famous for master shipwrights.

The restoration involved the live-aboard work with the replacement of the planking, reconstruction of the bulwark, and subsequent caulking, stuccoing, and painting. The unit also underwent a complete mechanical modernization, with the replacement of the engine and four-bladed propeller, and the installation of a bow thruster. From a structural and systems point of view, the teak deck was completely redone, all systems (electrical, hydraulic and fuel) were renewed, and the rudder was replaced with a more modern hydraulic control.

A further innovation is the installation of a remote mobile wheelhouse, which now allows the yacht to be maneuvered from the outside, directly from the deck. The interior is a dip into the past, because it too is made entirely of wood, and the helm is very “pirate galleon-like.” Below deck there are two cabins, served by as many toilets: a master cabin in the bow with a double bed and another cabin amidships with two single beds; aft, on the other hand, there is a salon with a table, strictly in solid wood. Katja is powered by a 240-hp Perkins diesel engine, which propels her up to 12 knots. How much does it take to become Katja’s owner? 110,000 euros.
