New year…new boat! If sportiness is what you’re looking for, but at new prices are an insurmountable wall, the used boat market can be your resource, there to look for the offer overlooked by most. And today we look at 3 boats taken right from our classifieds section, fast and sporty, just needing a little imagination and dedication, but all with great potential. Between a base for a restoration and an icon already refitted, there is just something for everyone.

Carver Yachts boat – 10 m

A typical 1990s powerboat from the American shipyard Carver Yachts, which also built here in Italy, with a factory overlooking the Adriatic. This particular specimen is from 1994, and is just under the waterline with its 9.50 m length. Twin Volvo Penta inboard-outboard engines, which, by the way, have been given considerable maintenance. With a width of 2.90 m, space is not lacking, as seen in the photo of the spacious cockpit. A pronounced deckhouse gives way to a sundeck and volumes below, with a cabin equipped with a bed, private bathroom and an entrance equipped with a small galley. Below the cockpit a second berth or storage room for luggage.

Magnum 38 Express

We go up to 12 meters with a Magnum 38 Express, visible in Salerno, which is very special: it is a boat for those who want to race on the water, but do not want to limit themselves to summer only. Compared to the “open” and sporty nature of this model, here we find an enclosed hard top. Purists might turn their noses up, but it makes the boat much more versatile and usable in all weather conditions.

The exterior layout is also different from the usual: in the cockpit, no sundeck, but comfortable sofas. Below deck, in the bow, is the classic double bed for nights at anchor. The boat is currently undergoing an advanced refit, but the mechanical part is already an excellent base: the two Caterpillar engines of 425 horsepower each have been completely overhauled and score, in fact, zero engine hours.

Cigarette 35 Mistress

A 1979 Cigarette Mistress 35 is a boat born to race, built by one of the most iconic yards in the American offshore tradition, inaugurated by Don Aronow. With a length of about 10.5 meters and a sharp, narrow hull, the cockpit is well protected, but there is room for a small cabin below deck in the bow and an immense sundeck aft, just above the two 500-hp Mercruisers.

A cult boating and speed enthusiast model that despite its years can still give a lot of excitement, especially if in excellent condition, like this one, given the recent refit.
