Four Mercury outboard engines, with twelve cylinders each, 7.6 liters of displacement each, putting out 600 hp. All together these numbers make 48 cylinders, 30,400 cc displacement for 2,400 horsepower: this is the powertrain presentation of the Valhalla 55 Sport Yacht, a center-console hull over 16 meters long produced by the American shipyard Valhalla Boatworks, imported to Italy by SNO Yachts.

How far it goes and what the boat looks like

During a test done by the shipyard itself, the boat reached an incredible top speed of 52.7 knots, with a significant fuel load (3,000 liters), full water tank and as many as 10 people on board. The extraordinary performance of the Valhalla 55 SY is intrinsically linked to its fluid dynamic design, signed by Michael Peters, which adopts Stepped-V Ventilated Tunnel technology. This two-step configuration is key to dramatically reducing hydrodynamic drag by “injecting” air under the hull to decrease surface friction.

The result is superior lift and unparalleled stability, allowing the boat to “lift” over the water while maintaining an exceptionally flat and steady trim. Also contributing to this is the Zipwake trim control system, which automatically optimizes pitching and ensures 360-degree visibility from the bridge at all times.

In practical terms, the efficiency allows the 55 SY to maintain an optimal fast cruising speed between 41 and 42 knots at only 5,100 rpm. The boat’s robustness is ensured by advanced construction; in fact, the hull uses E-glass fiber, with carbon fiber reinforcements and high-density urethane cores at critical points such as the opening of the bulwarks. The Valhalla 55 SY, in fact, has opening terraces in the broadside integrated with doors and steps, which greatly expand the usable space in the cockpit, ideal for guest entertainment. One of the most striking features of the 55 SY is its comfort, despite its sporty soul.

The command area, for example, thanks to double doors weighing more than 170 kg each, close tightly, isolating the area from sound. The extensive use of glass, particularly the curved single-pane windshield spanning the entire width of the cabin, gives a lot of brightness to the environment and an optimal view for the captain as well.

Let’s go below deck

If the exterior speaks of pure performance, the interior of the Valhalla 55 SY offers comfort and meticulous attention to detail, as well as a design that prioritizes habitability. The below-deck configuration is designed to maximize the owner’s flexibility. The layout includes the master cabin forward, equipped with a luxurious queen-size bed and served by a private en suite bathroom, and a guest cabin aft, also with a very large bed and a lounge area with a sofa that can be easily converted to a single berth as needed. The central salon is a concentration of design and functionality.

Bentley-style seating, finished with diamond stitching, wraps around an elegant table, creating a convivial and relaxing area; opposite, the kitchen is technologically advanced, with a countertop that integrates a sophisticated Invisacook induction cooktop. Defining the atmosphere of contemporary luxury is the choice of finishes: wood in an elegant slate gray hue and featuring a horizontal grain lends a touch of understated elegance and sportiness, demonstrating that the 55 SY is as much a performance machine as it is a luxury yacht finished to the finest detail.
