For fans of deep-sea fishing as well as weekends spent at sea, there is news: a new 46-knot Sport Fisherman arrives, married, however, to the weekender philosophy. With on the one hand Vicem Yachts – the Turkish shipyard known for the quality of its constructions-and on the other hand the US firm DLBA Architects, a new 11.2 meters capable of combining all the qualities of a fishing hull, with those more suitable for pleasant weekend cruising: it is the Tuna Master 37 Express, a project to keep an eye on for all lovers of the genre.

Double or triple outboard motors, 38 knots of cruising speed, over 170 liters of live bait tank and everything you need to fish. Below decks, however, sleeping quarters and kitchen to create a versatile complex ready to lend itself to a wide variety of uses. In fact, Vicem and DLBA, with the new 37 Express, build on the success of the previous 37 CC, while redesigning the entire layout and revolutionizing its volumes. Performance remains top-of-the-line, however, creating an excellent entry level in the brand’s Tuna Master segment.

How to extract even more potential from an already highly regarded Center Consolle? Expanding the ranges of use. Vicem and DLBA are taking this very cue to create a hull that is now more versatile and family friendly, but without sacrificing its strengths or performance. Open bow and center console thus give way to an enclosed foredeck and a windshield that wraps around the entire beam, benefiting the now more protected cockpit and the now present, bright and livable interior.

Just behind the windshield, however, the philosophy of the earlier fisherman is not lost, with the cockpit and hard-top still designed around their primary purpose: fishing. The top remains reinforced, full of rod holders and well set to provide shelter for the convivial areas while, the layout of the areas, divides well by intended use, with the aft part more devoted to fishing, the middle part to conviviality.

In the stern, in fact, first of all, there are ample storage lockers at the stern and a 170-liter live bait tank, complete with a hatch and broadside to facilitate catch retrieval. Providing comfort, in the stern, double hideaway seats are removable from the aft broadside, while a sofa is proposed toward the center of the cockpit, facing aft. In the area just beyond, however, an L-shaped sofa is protected by the top and windshield, creating an outdoor convivial space just behind the wheelhouse. Finally, a tambour located to the left provides access below deck.

Addressing the needs of the weekender, the new 37 Express builds on the previous 37 CC by implementing an enclosed forward volume. No more forward lounge, of course, but space, here, can make a real difference in terms of versatility. In the bow, a double V-shaped berth accommodates two people, but offers the possibility of integrating a third mattress, resulting in a double bed. Toward the middle of the boat, the galley is located to the left, mirrored on the opposite side by the toilet room, complete with shower.

Motorization and performance

Built from the hull of its sister, the Vicem 37 Express does not sin in terms of performance. Two 350-horsepower Mercury V10 outboards are available, increased to three in the case of the optional version. With the latter, performance equals 38 knots at cruising speed and over 45 at full throttle down. Finally, the tank accommodates up to 1,500 liters of fuel.
