Voltari-260

From the U.S. market comes a super-powerful, 50-plus-knot electric boat: it is called the Voltari 260 from Canada’s Voltari Marine Electric. Designed around offshore-racing-inspired hulls, the newcomer is an 8.6-m sports car with enviable performance: 52 knots of top speed, provided by a 740-horsepower electric motor.

Voltari 260

Aggressive and fast, the Voltari 260 is an ambitious design, afun-boat for those seeking high speeds and the instant power deliverable only from an electric power unit. Indeed, made of carbon and powered by a 550 kw (740 hp) engine, the acceleration promised by this 26-footer is impressive, especially when combined with excellent water lines and low overall weights.

Not being a pure racer, the Voltari 260 also offers comfort and room to relax, qualities that classify it as a good option if interested in summer joyrides and daily bathing.

Deck

Designed as a dayboat, the Voltari 260 offers a deck fit for purpose: daily outings to enjoy performance, relaxation at sea, and swimming and fun. In fact, starting at the stern, a swim platform welcomes guests both in boarding and disembarking operations and in moments of relaxation on board, offering not only a surface from which to access the water but also a hidden ladder to emerge from it in comfort.

Just beyond, a gavoned step leads to the cockpit, where two rows of racing-style seating are located. Designed to provide maximum comfort even at the highest speeds, they are protected by a hard top designed to provide shelter on sunny summer days. Overlooking two of the seats, the dashboard offers everything needed for navigation and is complete with trim-tabs and dual 17-inch Garmin screens, ideal for managing all parameters and navigation.

Set into the forward portion of the console, two other seats overlook the forward convivial area, served by two upholstered benches/sofas. Finally, the boat is equipped with a high-end stereo system and programmable LED lights.

Voltari 260 -Design and Performance

Looking instead at the performance, first of all we need to dwell on the hull. Inspired by offshore boats, the hull features racing-style water lines, sculpted by a deep V-shaped keel and a 24° deadrise. To facilitate the work done by the propulsion and to ensure the high performance sought, the hull is not only designed to have water lines with a high planing coefficient, but is also designed and made of carbon, so that the overall weights are kept to a minimum, allowing the water lines and electric motorization to express themselves to the fullest.

Coming to the powertrain then, the boat is designed to see installed a propulsion system capable of expressing up to 550 kw, the equivalent of 740 horsepower, served by six 142 kWh battery packs. The result? Top speeds near 52 knots. The overall range, on the other hand, at cruising speed (20/30 kn) is around 35/37 miles, figures that, for the type of use, may be sufficient.IMG
