What will boat charters in the summer of Coronavirus look like? Corrado Di Majo, one of the rental ‘gurus’ in Italy, explains the situation.
About how the boat is for all intents and purposes a second home, and should be considered as such in the ‘sblocca italia’ decree expected in the coming days, we spoke yesterday with Fabio Planamente, CEO of Cantiere del Pardo. Another hotly debated issue is chartering: what will happen to charter boats in phase 2, that is, the phase of coexistence with Covid-19?
Charter boats and coronavirus: what will happen this summer?
“These days we have all heard about the possibility of boat activity being combined with sports activity, but that would be a very unintelligent solution. And very unintelligent is an understatement. It would bring the charter to its knees.”, Corrado Di Majo, one of the rental ‘gurus’ in Italy, told us.
Di Majo is the owner and president of Equinoxe Yachts, which has been taking Italians on yacht charters of all types, from 10 meters to superyachts, for more than 30 years. He is also the general agent for Italy for one of the world’s largest manned and unmanned charter groups, The Moorings and Sunsail.
