One of the most recognized design firms in the industry, Pastrovich Studio, has unveiled a very ambitious new project. It is a concept for a 90-meter superyacht, called X-Kid Stuff, which has a very unique feature: when the boat is stationary at anchor or at roadstead, the available surface area expands and enlarges, providing plenty of space for the guests on board.
Studio Pastrovich, led by architect and founder Stefano Pastrovich, famous, for example, for conceiving the Wallypower 118, introduced this concept that challenges traditional standards. X-Kid Stuff is an impressive 90-meter yacht that once “opened” when at anchor gains a very significant footprint area, providing more space for all the guests on board, effectively becoming like a villa on the sea.
What the X-Kid Stuff concept looks like.
The X-Kid Stuff motoryacht project is a concept aims to combine the experience of luxury cruising with that of absolute comfort when standing at anchor or at anchor. At sea, the motoryacht has a sleek profile, with basically understated lines at the bow that decline toward a spacious transom. What makes this concept unique, however, is not immediately apparent, and that is the ability to flip the yacht’s broadside, from the stern to the front up to mid-length, thus creating a completely open platform from which a variety of vessels can be launched.
According to Studio Pastrovich, this innovation allows theX-Kid Stuff not only to expand its boundaries when moored, but also to have enough space to accommodate a wide range of toys and equipment on board such as jet skis, tenders and a 15-meter rib. The renderings even illustrate the possibility of hosting a fully equipped sailboat on board.
Of course, this is only a concept that will probably never be realized, but it is nonetheless indicative of a real trend that we see aboard a number of yachts, which is to have more and more comfort and space aboard boats. Not only to experience the sea with comfort, but also to accommodate the increasing number of toys and equipment for fun in the water.
