Debuted for its world premiere in Fort Lauderdale in the U.S., the Windy SR28 CC immediately intrigued the small boat market. And on closer inspection. Entirely designed and engineered by the Windy Design Department, this boat (8m) declares itself as a clearly performing open with an absolutely classic style, in the most positive sense of the word.

Indeed, with its sporty and sleek lines, a deep-V hull, and engines ranging from 300 to 425 hp, it can only promise remarkable performance in style.

The strength of the Windy SR28 CC (beyond performance) is, of course, the deck, where the shipyard has tried to make as much livable space as possible, both aft and forward. In fact, although there is forward seating and table, there is still a cabin with a berth for two and a separate bathroom. Stainless steel components, hand-laid teak deck and an “anytime” fender system make docking easy and stress-free, and maintain a classic, stylishly designed appearance.

The wheelhouse and the entire aft space, in turn, convey a clean and elegant style, and offer, in addition to the two bridge seats, an additional double aft seat facing a second table. The stern closes with a large chrome-plated roll cage facing the outboard, ideal both in terms of safety and for water sports. Integrated into the broadside and under the aft seat, we finally find a high-quality stereo system and, unfailingly, a cooler drawer, ideal on any summer day.

Windy SR28 CC – Bridge

The wheelhouse, located just to starboard from the companionway, features a remarkable leather steering wheel and a large Raymarine screen through which to access all necessary controls and navigation systems. As for outboard trimming, in addition to the manual option there is of course automatic trim management, which is ideal for smooth sailing even with unbalanced weights (passenger arrangement), or if cross winds or slightly formed seas are encountered. Several lockers and various compartments fill in, as does the location of the VHF, between the two seats in the wheelhouse, ideal for safe use.

Windy SR28 CC – Interior

As for the interior, hard to criticize its appearance. In full Scandinavian style, all the furnishings are extremely clean and elegant, ensuring a good mix of effectiveness and good taste. In fact, accessing from the bridge leads to an extremely well-designed cabin and lavatory, carved out of expertly managed spaces that provide good comfort even on longer outings. In short, on the Windy SR28 CC we find that same attention to detail below deck that characterizes the exterior.A clean, pleasing design that sacrifices nothing.

Windy SR28 CC – Motorization

The recommended engine was originally 300 horsepower, outboard, while with the probable switch to Yamaha, this could vary up to 425 horsepower. Upgrade that, combined with the water lines, should fully satisfy all those looking for rather interesting speeds, taking this boat up to 40/46 knots. In fact, the keel is extremely well designed, and aimed at providing not only pure speed but also a good amount of safety and handling, thus ensuring maximum comfort even if speed becomes important. The Windy SR28 CC thus appears to be an excellent cocktail for good doses of fun, as well as for pleasant leisurely sailing.
