Cabin cruiser, fast and sporty, to enrich the 9-meter segment, at the now upcoming Boot Düsseldorf-the annual German trade fair (Jan. 20-28) with which the season opens-will make its world debut also the latest creation of Windy, a weekender born out of the shipyard’s proven collaboration with Espen Øino International. Thus comes the new Windy 29 Huracán, a small sport cruiser that combines protected convivial spaces and interiors for sleeping aboard with the fun and maneuverability of a V-shaped hull capable of at least 43 knots.

Windy will then launch its second model in the Sport Series range, introduced just this year with the
Windy 40 Camira RS
, thus continuing its collaboration with Design Unlimited on the interior. Cabin and strong with a cockpit dedicated to conviviality, the new Huracán then does not fail to leave room for different owner needs, offering a total of 3 options as far as motorization is concerned, for maximum speeds between 43 knots of the “standard package,” to 50+ knots of the highest performing option. While waiting for the Boot, let’s have a better look at it in preview.

Windy 29 Huracán – Exterior

Modern look, V-shaped hull and low, slender dashboard towards the stern to protect the entire cockpit. This is how the new Huracán presents itself, and then immediately introduces the components instead dedicated to comfort, starting with the transom, immediately facing the water with a swim platform. Also looking in this direction is the aft sundeck, designed to occupy about 3/4 of the maximum beam, leaving a walkway to the cockpit alongside the portside broadside.

It shares the back of the sundeck, the L-shaped sofa in the cockpit, also, like the sundeck, placed to starboard. Instead, a small seat that recaptures the sofa design sits to the left, creating a complete convivial space just aft of the seating serving the wheelhouse and co-pilot.

Located on the starboard side and protected by the windshield, the wheelhouse is served by a single ergonomic seat, mirrored on the port side by a second one, twin to this one and fronted by the entrance to the below deck. In the center of the cockpit, three steps lead to the dashboard floor, where an opening portion of the windshield provides access to forward spaces. Finally, the bow is clear, yet usable as a sundeck and equipped with handrails.

Windy 29 Huracán – Interior

Taking over to make the Huracán usable for overnight stays on board are the interiors, designed with the Design Unlimited studio. Excluding the separate toilet room, the interior volumes come to life in the form of an open space, with a kitchen complete with sink and platters immediately to the left, and a large V-shaped double bed in the bow, lit by an overhead skylight.

Propulsion

Coming to the front related to performance and motorization, the standard version of the Windy 29 will feature a single Volvo Penta D6-440 DPI engine that, combined with the V-shaped hull, provides top speeds of about 43 knots. However, the shipyard does not fail to offer 2 additional options, also single-engine. Thus, a Volvo Penta V8LV 430-CE and a Yanmar 8LV-370Z engine are also available. The maximum contemplated speed, considering the upgrade, is about 50 knots. In terms of range, however, the fuel tank would not seem to vary, offering a total of 400 liters of capacity.
