Boats are getting bigger and bigger, but there is always less space on board than one would like. Accessories manufacturers are well aware of this, and have always tried to make products that are functional but take up little space. At Mets in Amsterdam, the world’s leading marine accessories show, we saw three space-saving accessories that were out of the chorus. We present them to you in the video below posted on our YouTube channel, where you can also find tests, previews and lots of content for sea and boating lovers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h096noFGDLQ
Accessories: nnovations in fenders
The first accessory we present is an innovative opening fender developed by the Finnish startup X-Fender. This fender, available in three different sizes (40, 50, and 60 cm), solves the problem of bulk on board because it can be opened completely and, in this way, takes up very little space. The closure system is innovative, with a Velcro mechanism equipped with a claw that provides stability even under strong pressure. In addition, the fenders can be customized in color and with the boat’s logo, making them not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.
A never-before-seen anchor
Next, the video presents a new anchor created by the Spanish company Ankerplex. This anchor is composed of three different pieces that take up very little space when disassembled, and can be quickly assembled when needed. Available in different sizes and materials, this solution is ideal for those seeking practicality and lightness, perhaps for the tender or as a respect anchor.
Accessories: the electric stepladder that takes up little space
Finally, at Mets we also saw Douglas Marine‘s E-Step electro-actuated ladder, designed for boats under 60 feet. This ladder is extremely compact when closed, and offers a wide opening angle for easy access to the water. The cover is made of non-slip, customizable material, and can be controlled by a push-button or remote control.
