At Boot Düsseldorf 2023, the XO DFNDR 8, read “Defender 8,” made its debut, which is among the shipyard’s latest additions. A boat with a clear “military” feel, suitable for all seas and conditions. We saw it in the dry, but the off-road face is there and it shows.

“We make one of those boats,” said Erkki Talvela, CEO of the company during the presentation. that gets you out in all conditions, but then also brings you back. There are boats that we could call BMWs or Audis of the sea, to make an automotive comparison. We are definitely more of a ‘Land Rover,’ boats for all conditions.”

We came on board at the

. Livable outdoor spaces on board are not particularly plentiful, particularly in the stern, where as “Mediterraneans” we always expect a nice sundeck. We find an area, however, that we can use for fishing, given also the presence of rod holders on the hard-top, in the version on which we climbed.
The boat has, however, a sundeck in the bow with storage space underneath. Here the high broadside allows privacy while sunbathing by being able to lie comfortably.“It is good for paparazzi” – joked a visitor with a friend while I was on board. Effectively lying down here, you enjoy a protected space on the outside. Cushions on the broadside allow you to rest your back in comfort.
The inner hall is fully protected and sheltered. The two benches parallel to the longitudinal axis of the boat are once again reminiscent of the British brand’s classic Defender with storage spaces underneath, while for pilot and co-pilot there are with two seats. Opposite the co-pilot’s is the door to a toilet. The top can be opened, and by opening it, there is air inside.
