For several months this boat had been “in the air” with some renderings circulating on the web. Now theXO EXPLR 44, the largest ever made by XO Boats is a reality. What’s so special about it? It is a perfect middle ground between Nordic and Mediterranean styling. You know the new Defender from Land Rover? There, that’s the spirit. Compared to the other models that have a more distinctly “heavy-duty” look, that is, practically as a work unit with a military aftertaste, it yields something to aesthetics and, above all, to on-board comfort. So we have aScandinavian hull with a minimalist and modern design to which remarkable interior and exterior volumes are added.
What does it look like? Top speed over 50 knots, 13.4 meters long is made of aluminum. The Finnish shipyard’s newcomer retains the Scandinavian look typical of the brand, while optimizing its volumes for on-board living, also with a Mediterranean slant.
For motorization, XO Boats offers two distinct options, always outboard: starting with two 600-hp Mercury Verado or a triple of 450-hp engines each for a total of 1,350 horsepower.
