The new Yamaha 350 V6 completes the three tuning forks company’s 60° V-six-cylinder range that already includes 225 , 250 and 300 and fills the power gap between V6s and V8s (XTO 400 V8 and XTO 450 V8).

Yamaha 350 V6 – An All-New Engine

Although derived directly from the V6 300 engine block, the newcomer is a completely revised engine. Of note, first of all, is the excellent power-to-weight ratio with only 304 kg against 257 kW at 6,000 rpm.

New features include that it is designed with larger intake and exhaust valves than the 300-hp V6 engine and uses the throttle body from the 450-hp XTO V8 to maximize air movement.

The intake and exhaust valves are also larger and, together with the variable valve timing (VCT) system, offer a distinct advantage in the airflow of the new 350-hp V6.

The ultimate watercraft outboard

New is the crankshaft as well as the ratio of bore to stroke: whereas before the 300 was a typical “square,” now the 350 is a “long stroke.” This means, among other things, having more torque, which is critical for the latest generation of boats with outboards that often have significant displacement.

From its little brother, the 300 V6, the new 350 borrows the foot where, however, the internal elements of the gear selector have been increased and reinforced for more safety and also smoother engagement.

While waiting to try it out on the water-the first examples are already coming to Italy this spring-you can begin to discover the first secrets of the Yamaha V6 350 in our video.
