In the waters of Mondello in Palermo, yet another incident occurred this summer. A 22-year-old young man fell from the dinghy while sailing with friends who reversed course incorrectly, severing his leg and seriously injuring his chest and shoulder. This is the Port Authority’s reconstruction that the 22-year-old fell into the water and friends maneuvered away from the bow and brought the stern of the unit closer to the boy in the sea. This would have brought the propeller against the young man, seriously injuring him.

The man overboard recovery maneuver is very simple for anyone with a license, but it can become extremely dangerous if you are not familiar with it. With proper knowledge of the means, at least basic knowledge, could this tragedy have been avoided?
