The ZAR Imagine 115 is positioned as the entry model of the Lombard shipyard’s line of the same name, summarizing the brand’s own technical and structural features. In addition, the homologated length of 9.97 meters means that this luxury RIB falls among the watercraft and does not have to be registered. The design is distinguished by a hull equipped with a deep “V” configuration and an accentuated bow wheel, complemented by a series of both longitudinal and lateral steps.

Zar Imagine 115

This architecture takes advantage of the characteristic hydrostatic tunnels developed by ZAR Formenti, a solution aimed at optimizing hydrodynamic sustenance, reducing drag and ensuring trim stability even at high speeds.

Exterior and deck

The exterior lines, signed by designer Carlos Vidal, propose a sporty profile characterized by a high, sharp bow devoid of tubulars, always a distinguishing feature of ZAR, which connects seamlessly with the height of the jaw. The organization of the deck is structured to facilitate on-board flows and maximize habitability, eliminating narrow and dangerous passages. The aft area accommodates a double sofa that can be converted to a sundeck by lowering the back, integrating a side walkway for safe access from the swim platform. Two “L”-shaped seats are developed on the bulwarks, enslaved by two removable wooden tables, configuring a flexible living area suitable for every need.

This section is directly served by a kitchen cabinet equipped with a refrigerator, sink, and cooking plate. The control console is located immediately behind the kitchen cabinet and is protected above by a rigid T-Top structure. The station includes two high-contraction profiled seats designed to ensure proper driving ergonomics and full perimeter visibility. At the bow, the deck area is entirely devoted to a large fixed sunbathing area.

Interior layout

Below-deck spaces, on the other hand, take advantage of the structure’s height to provide significant volume: standing room is available in almost every area. The interior layout includes a forward master cabin equipped with a freestanding double bed, closets and drawers built into the bulwarks. A second double stateroom is located amidships under the decking, accessible by shifting the companionway. The layout is completed by a toilet room equipped with a separate shower stall.

Engines

The ZAR 115 Imagine adopts high-powered dual outboard engines: starting with 2 engines of 325 hp each to reach 1000 hp of maximum power. The reference configuration calls for the installation of a pair of Mercury V10 thrusters of 425 horsepower each, capable of expressing speed performance consistent with the design’s sporty layout. To facilitate mooring maneuvers and manage side drifts in tight spaces, the hull is equipped with a bow thruster as standard.

How it goes

We tested the ZAR Imagine 115 at the lake in perfect weather conditions: sunny, flat lake and no wind. Right away this RIB exudes confidence; right from unmooring maneuvers it does not put the skipper in trouble thanks to the help of the joystick on the bridge. Once the engines are warmed up, we immediately test the top speed: over 48 knots with half full fuel, full water tanks and 5 people on board. The V-step hull responds well to helm commands, always going along with the captain’s wishes. What we liked was the comfort, despite the fact that the design and project is sport oriented. Creating the wave with the wake, the entry was always very soft and, even in the tightest turns, we never had trouble controlling the boat.

Another positive note to mention is the height of the T-Top, increased thanks to the risers: this solution, in addition to giving more brightness to the interior, ensures that we always have excellent side visibility when turning. After more than an hour of sailing, we make our way to the harbor in absolute relaxation at a cruising speed of about 35 knots and, again thanks to Mercury’s Joystick Piloting, with a perfect maneuver we return to the berth.
